Terrified and scared

Hi I heard the nurse wrong ,I thought she said I had stage three breast cancer , ok I thought I have a heck of a battle but my chances of survival are really quiet good .. when I telephoned my nurse all excited saying I had read some very good things about treatment my world imploded  she said no it's not stage 3 if fast growing and has spread into several of your lymph nodes is

it is a grade 3 tumour that I now understand through reading lots of articles on line mean I have in incurable an er and probably have two years to live... I am so sad... I wanted to see the world

  • Hi

I managed to drink approximately 2 litres of water every day is this enough?
stoped taking tge cod liver oil and vit c and d until I speak to someone

my EC is every two weeks

then scan then paclitaxel for 12 weeks

phesgo every 3 weeks I think

my next appointment is 19th august with my oncologist

I haven't had any nausea or constipation but I have a smoothie everyday

I start my booster tonight really scared about these as I have read horror stories about tge pain ...

I have to do them for 8/days is this normal .

  • When people say be kind to your self I don't really understand what this means ? Does it mean little treats like days out ? Meals out? Cinema? Xx

  • I think it's usually more about going easy on yourself. It certainly could include those things if they make you feel better or it could mean just relaxing in front of the TV or just not putting pressure on yourself and letting other people take some of the slack.

  • Hi Margaret

    thank you for helping me

Walked 7000 steps today .. don't want to let this thing completely overwhelm me anymore xx

  • Really glad you are thinking about fighting back, definitely good idea, but if you feel tired it's better to stop and rest.

As you get more treatment you will realise how things work and  hopefully relax more.

    Take care remember.

    Billy xx

  • MargaretMary said it right.  I could not have managed a day out or the cinema. EC chemo normally has 3 weeks of recovery time. 2 weeks in between rounds means less recovery time but you'll get a health check over the phone the day before to check you're fit enough for your next one.  Have you got your blood tests booked in?  They use your blood results to monitor your health on this.

What type of injections are you on?  I had 5 with each EC, more on the Docetaxel.

The smoothie sounds a good idea.  I had an awful time with the steroids but found the injections were fine on EC, not on Docetaxel though, had a rough time then.  Could someone do your injections for you if scared? I preferred to do them into my belly at the side rather than my thigh, tried both.  You should only get a slight sting, looks worse than it is.  Your immune system will be lowered remember so make sure you wear a mask if you manage out anywhere.  Catching Covid means no access to hospital for 14 days which delays treatment.

No nausea or constipation yet is good.  I didn't have them straight away either. Still be careful though as any of the side effects can happen on any of the 13 days in between rounds.

You won't get Phesgo til you go onto Paclitaxel.

You could start taking a note of questions for your Oncologist.

Hope the first jag went well! xx

  • Hi

I wonder why I am having my EC every two weeks and only 4 rounds .., I have to have 8  of the  immune boosters ... is that a lot ? Especially if I am having EC every 14 days ?
my other half looked on YouTube and said it appeared better to go into the tummy , thank you for your words of wisdom and experience

I have started a list to ask my oncologist

my breast doesn't feel so sore today so I am hoping that is a good sign that thevEC  is working already , or maybe it's just in  my head .. xx

thank you so much for your support and encouragement xx

  • The name of the injection is accofil filgrastiltim xx

  • Hiya Athena, you took your first step.......it isn't as awful as you think it will be is it?  Don't forget to drink plenty of water, and don't over-do things........make sure you get lots of rest.  I did my own injections in my stomach, but I am not afraid of needles, so it was easy for me to do it myself.  If you have any pain or any concerns at all, get on to your nurses, that's what they are there for.  I know you are still terrified, and that's okay, we all get frightened sometimes.......but you will see this thing through, and it will pass so quickly.  It seemed that no sooner had I started my chemo, that I was on my last session.  Do stuff that you enjoy.......reading, listening to music, watching films.........spoil yourself.  Take care mate, we're all proud of you, Violet, xxx
