Inflammatory breast cancer

Anyone else been diagnosed with grade 3 triple negative inflammatory breast cancer? Just got a diagnosis on Monday and I'm so stressed that I can't eat or sleep well. I have to have a bone scan and a CT scan next week. He said that he didn't think that the cancer had spread. I had a clear mammogram in January but went back to the doctor in May with concerns. I just can't believe I went from 'yes everything looks okay' to this in just a few months. I don't know what to think. I know it's a more rare breast cancer. I'm worried because they said it grows fast. I will have to have a mastectomy -I hope I can find the courage to get through this. I can't believe that this is my life now it still seems so unreal

  • Hello LyndaP

I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis. It's understandable that you're feeling a real rollercoaster of emotions right now. It's a lot to take on board and undoubtedly this is a difficult time for you.

We do have some information on our website about inflammatory breast cancer which may be a helpful reference for you. I've searched through the forum and can't see that we've any members who have mentioned IBC and being triple negative. However we do have lots of ladies who have been through treatment for TNBC and I'd suggest having a look at this thread, this thread, and this thread. They are all recent threads where ladies who have had treatment for triple-negative breast cancer have posted. I'm sure that if you pop a message on one (or more) of those threads you'll be able to chat with others who understand some of what you're dealing with at the moment.

I'd also really encourage you to give our team of nurses a call. I know they will be happy to talk things through with you and offer any advice, information, and support that they can. They're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

This is a scary time Lynda. I hope that you have a good network of family and friends around you. Do lean on them for support and don't be afraid to ask for help.

Keep in touch and let us know how you're doing.

    Best wishes,
    Jenn
