Post hysterectomy and 6 chemo courses

Hello. My relative had hysterectomy done as the doctors doubted metastasis. Now after a month of surgery she has to undergo 6 chemo, 3 weeks apart. She is in stage 2 mild. How will it affect her and as she lives alone will she have any nurse visiting her? Will she have lot of side-effects?

  • Hello Divyabibi

I'm sorry to hear that your relative has recently undergone surgery and is now due to start chemotherapy. It's understandable that you may have some concerns and questions.

We have some general information about chemotherapy on our website which may help answer some of those questions but it's worth remembering that not everyone will experience every side effect and the side effects may vary depending on the type and strength of the treatment that your relative is having.

It's not usual for people to have nurses visit them in between treatment sessions. Although your relative lives alone I hope that she has family and friends who live nearby that can support her if she needs help with things. If this is not the case then she may be able to access some care support through her local social services department if needed. You can read more information here

If you'd like to talk to one of our team of nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

I hope that your relative's treatment goes well.

    Best wishes,
