Newly diagnosed with breast cancer - worried

Hi everyone,

After what feels like forever, I finally got the results and just been diagnosed with breast cancer. I am finding it really hard to process everything and my head is spinning really.
We are still waiting to see back from the hormones receptive tests etc to see if I would need the treatment first( and which one) or surgery.
My breast doctor has provisionnally booked a date for the 13th of July for the lumpectomy.
My lump is quite small, 1cm but has spread to the node( not sure how many) but it's also grade 3.The prognostic is good, I think and they were really nice and positive at my appointment.
What worries me is that if I need surgery, it won't be until next month and I worry that's a long time and my biggest fear is that I would spread.
I spoke about my fear to the doctor and she explained that the way it is at the moment, she believes it won't.
Is it normal to have to wait up to a month, my diagnosis took about 6 weeks because the first needle aspiration results came back inconclusive.

thank you in advance for taking the time to read my story

  • Hello sorry to hear that but try not to worry I know it's difficult all the waiting,it won't spread in between waiting,I also waited a while for my results,I had chemo first to shrink the lump, then surgery after radiotherapy and now I can say that I'm cancer free.I also had it in my lymph nodes so to put your mind at rest it's not all doom and gloom, you have to try to stay positive and take each day at a time.Take care x
