I'm sorry to hear about your husband's diagnosis and the dilemma he is facing regarding his treatment.  It's understandable that you both want to make sure that the right decision is made. 

We have some information on our website about treatments for prostate cancer but it's difficult to say why the hospital is guiding him toward surgery. They have the full clinical picture and would be best placed to explain why they feel this is the right path for your husband. 

However, don't be afraid to question them and ask why other treatments may not be as preferable. If you're not happy with their answers or guidance then you could ask for a second opinion.
