Newly diagnosed questions

My sister in law recently attended a&e with lower back pain, they did a MRI and CT scan and identified a mass at the base of her spine the size of a grapefruit. The dr told her it was sarcoma and they have reffered her to a specialist center. I am just wondering how this can be diagnosed with no biopsy as of yet. Is there a chance this could not be cancer?

  • A warm welcome to Cancer Chat LolaA although I'm sorry to hear your sister in law has been told she has a sarcoma.

Unfortunately I can't answer your question about this but our team of cancer nurses may be able to help so if you'd like to discuss this with them they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

Hopefully some of our members who have been in a similar position will share their thoughts and experiences with you soon but in the meantime, we're thinking of you and wishing your sister in law all the best with her referral.

    Kind regards,
