Mastectomy with later reconstruction

Hi

I am currently looking at the possibility of having a mastectomy but delaying the reconstruction for the future.

I have completed chemo and will need surgery followed by radiotherapy and after weighing up the pros and cons I think this might be the best option.

Can anyone share their experiences? Would love to hear what reconstruction people had later down the line or even if people decided not to bother with the reconstruction in the end.

Thank so much xxx

Hopefully some of our members who have gone down this route will share their experiences with you soon but you're welcome to use the 'search forum' option in the purple bar above to find recent discussions about this where you can connect with others as well.

We have some information about having a mastectomy and reconstruction on our website but if you have any questions, you can get in touch with our cancer nurses on 0808 800 4040. Their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they'll do all they can to help.

Wishing you all the best with your surgery and radiotherapy Harker.
