Stage 4 bowel cancer

Hi my dad was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer which has spread to his liver. His scan showed few small metastasis only on his right side of the liver. Since then he has had more scans including full body scan to be certain it hasn't spread any further but haven't heard back any results from these scans  is this a good thing? He has had radiotherapy and his chemotherapy started on Friday, he's fit and healthy otherwise. I would appreciate if anyone has experienced this and could give my dad some positivity in getting through this.

  • Hello CherP

I'm sorry to hear about your Dad's diagnosis. It's understandably a difficult time for you all and natural that you may be feeling anxious about the tests results that he's still waiting for.

It's good to hear that he's generally fit and well otherwise as I'm sure this will stand him in good stead for his treatment.

I'm going to tag in one of our members David aka [@gruntifen]‍ who I know had bowel cancer with some liver involvement. I'm sure that when he sees my tag he'll pop along to share his story with you and hopefully it will give your Dad some positivity.

We do have a team of nurses here at Cancer Research and if you want to chat things through with them at any point you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm. I'm sure they'll be happy to help with advice, information, and support.

Sending you and your Dad our best wishes,
