hi all for the past 2 years i have had headaches but never went to see my GP because of covid until about  7 months ago i told him my symptons headaches/ tiredness during the day and difficulty swallowing my salavia at night when i am sleeping and i have  depression  because of it so he said it could be sleep apnea so i was given a machine to monitor my sleep pattern at home for one night now this was about august last year so i totally forgot about it because i heard nothing back from them until i got a letter from them early march this year saying they will phone me on wed  13th of april 2022  they phoned to tell me i do have sleep Apnea he was going through my treatment options so i am getting a c pap machine to help me sleep at night but i have to wait another couple of months until one is avalable in all of this time i even had a Mri scan on my head that was comeing up to 7 weeks ago wich i never heard back from if its not life threating   they are in no hurry in getting back to you with your results

  • Hello jk1967,

I hope that the CPap machine will arrive very soon and that you won't have to wait too long for one to become available to you. I think as Nurse Celene advised in your other thread, as you haven't heard back from them and it's been seven weeks now, you should get in touch with your GP and ask whether anything has come through and what these results are. I am sure they will be able to chase this up in your behalf. It must be frustrating for you not to have heard anything back after so many weeks.

I hope that you get some answers soon and some clarity as to what may be causing these symptoms. Hopefully you will hear from other members of our community who have been in a similar place before and they will be along shortly to share their experience with you.

  • hi lucie thank you for your feedback if i can be honest with you i am too scared to phone my GP about my mri scan as its been 7 weeks since my scan and they have findings of abnormal tumors and thats why they are taking a while to get back to me because if their was nothing im sure they would have got back to me within 2 weeks i also have other health issues too like copd/ im on tablets for life with pulmonary embolism and now im starting to gett pain in m my elbow joints and both bases of my thumbs so im not sure if i want to know about results i feel im starting to get athritis too i should phone my GP but i keep holding off to see if it goes away byitself .

  • Hello again jk1967,

I can completely understand why you are feeling this way but try not to draw any conclusions from the fact they haven't been in touch. I think if you can summon up the courage, it would be worth finding out what is going on and what happened to your results - it will give you definite and clear answers or you will find yourself worrying and wondering what happened and what the results might be. You could also mention these symptoms of pain in your elbow joints and at the base of your thumbs to your GP who I am sure will be able to help with these issues.

I do hope you get the reassurance you need soon and are given some proper answers.

    Best wishes,

    Lucie

  • hi again lucie i managed to phone the hospital earlier today and was speaking to the secutary and told her about my mri  scan and its been 7 weeks and not heard anything since and she said its because they have a backlog so i have to just wait by the time i do get my results they will have to take another scan because i am still getting  daily headachaes and they seem to be more moderate in pain and more frequent i am taking around 10 to twelve paracetamol  tablets daily i know the risks of taking too  many but my headachaes wont go awayaw.

  • Hello JK, I'm responding to your post as we have been asked to by the moderators.

We are very concerned about the amount of paracetamol that you are taking.

You must not take more than 8 tablets in a 24 hour period. This is due to the severe damage that more than this can do to your body.

I understand that your headaches are bad, and that is awful for you, but I would urge you to speak with your GP about them and tell them what you have been taking.  Also speak to them or your local pharmacist about getting some better pain relief

Here is the guidance from the NHS on paracetamol.

Take care JK and please call your GP.

    Sarah.
