I am so sorry to hear this - certainly not the news you wanted. I expect that your oncologist will discuss these points when you see him/her next Monday. I am glad that your nurse phoned you today. Even bad news is better than no news at all. You will find that the more open and positive you can be about your cancer the better your family and friends will cope with your diagnosis. On a more positive note, it is good news that your body scan was clear.

I am sure that you are feeling pretty shell shocked at the moment, but I hope that you have plenty of support around you. Write down any questions you have before next week, as you will need to know what type and grade of cancer it is, as you'll need to know this before you can consider treatment. I can't explain any further until you know exactly what you are dealing with. You can beat this!

My husband  was diagnosed  in May 2019 with prostate cancer with bone mets. Was given 16 months if he didn't  do chemo. He had 1 dose but went toxic. We changed diet to anti cancer  and anti inflammatory food. It's been good for 4 years now but sadly has spread in the bones where he can barely walk. 

So sorry to hear of your news.  The specialists don't always get it right.

We're not sure how long we have but try and find joy in the good moments.

A very warm welcome to our forum, although I am so sorry to hear why you are here. I cared for my Mum at a similar stage - her breast cancer had spread to her brain, bones, liver and lungs. She fought it valiantly, but eventually lost her fight. I have since had 2 bouts of breast cancer myself - the first 12 years ago and the second, the following year. It hasn't all been plain sailing, but I'm grateful to still be here and each day is a bonus. 

All we can do is to make the most of the time we have and try to find joy in the good moments. I do hope that you have some support for yourself, as you are the lynchpin in supporting your husband. Please know that we are always here for you and keep in touch.

on 25th march had coil removed 28th started period day 12 so far no let up finially get through to gp , who said would i consider having coil put back in someone not read my notes arghhhhhhi said no because breast nurse told me to take it out i have breast cancer .....long pause quick tap on her computer oh your also on warfarin , i say yes oh i cant give you tablets , so check my hemaglobin , bloods sent off and urgent refurral to gynie great rrrrrrrrr

spoke to breast nurse to see if all test have come back abdo scan , her and what ever else they were doing , yes results on 11th , monday just gone they were telling me loads yesturday they wouldnt tell me nothing , explained stress since feb , father in law and its now april and im still not 100 % sure , and still wouldnt tell me which i find odd 

so now its weekend and im going to try switch off , started to do my family tree again as i enjoy ancestry

I'm sorry to hear about your frustrating day yesterday. It is so infuriating when your GP doesn't  even read your notes!

It is unusual for the nurses to tell us anything. Usually the consultants like to do this themselves. Have you told them that you are willing to take a last minute cancellation? There is often a chance of getting one of these, as there are still a number of patients cancelling due to Covid.

It's always good to have a pastime to while away the hours. Enjoy doing your family tree.

Stage 3 breast cancer is extremely curable! And right now there is no evidence that the OP's cancer has spread. Stage 3 cancer can have a very good outcome. 

It's brilliant news that your body scan is clear. Your team will now be focused on curing you. There will likely be a lot of treatment but take it one step at a time. Also aggressive cancers often respond better to chemo and targeted therapies. After they've seen the results of your tests, your team will be putting together a plan that's right for you and your type of cancer. 

Hi Lady Penelope, so sorry you are going through this, but just to let you know that I had stage 3 breast cancer 3 years ago and it is DEFINITELY treatable.  When I got my diagnosis I remember asking the Oncologist 'how long have I got?' and she assured me stage 3 breast cancer is NOT a death sentence.  I wish you luck, xx
