HER2 Positive diagnosis

Hi All,

I've recently been diagnosed with HER2 postive breast cancer. I'm  35 and I have a 18 month old daughter and and this diagnosis has completely floored me.  I'm still getting over the shock. I've been told I will start chemo and have an appointment tomorrow with the oncologist. Just wondering how long it roughly takes for them to start the chemo. I was told 2 weeks ago now and I'm struggling most with all the waiting around. I feel I just want to get going and feel like I'm doing something to fight it. Any advice or support would be so greatly appreciated.

  • Thank you for your help & advice

  • That is amazing news Vicki, I'm so pleased for you! Hope the appointment with the surgeon goes well next week, let me know what he says.

Taxol number 7 today with HP, 5 to go! Will be interesting to see whether I get any tingling in my hands again this time as I did with the H&P last time. Read an article earlier about the link between vitamin D and reducing risk of PN so I'm hoping my daily dose might keep it at bay as I haven't been able to ice.

    Have a super weekend xx

  • Hi I really hope you ladies don't mind me jump, ping on your post , I have just been diagnosed with her2 positive,,, I did the Brest predict thing , terrified me as er neg , I have lymph node involvement.. I start my EC tomorrow morning.. inam so frightened... please can you help me through my journey ... I would appreciate any all help . Thank you

  • Hi I have just started this journey too .. her2 positive 43mm in lest breast er negative grade 3 tumour , I have been and still am terrified.. 3 lymph node involvement.. not seeing my oncologist until the 19th again xx

  • We are here for you. You have started your journey and will be treated and this is what you must focus on. I have been doing chemo with a lady who has lymph node involvement and the 4 EC chemos alone have already kicked the invasive and shrunk her nodes.

Ec is v powerful. I had it before paclitaxel. You'll feel quite grotty for about 5 or 6 days if anything like me. Nausea main culprit. But you'll get through it and you have more good days than bad.

You can do this. I promise. Try and remember that the best environment for your body is a calm one. It is hard to do when you are frightened, but every time you feel that panic or dread feeling, start breathing purposely. Slow and steady and bring your heart rate back to normal. We can only deal with what is in front of us as we cannot know the future. But I and many others are here to help you through this. Xx

  • Thanks my lovely. Well done on session number 7!

    Have an awesome weekend xx
