MONTGOMERY GLANDS AFTER TREATMENT?

I have had my radiotherapy (5 sessions in 5 days) finished and also started Lymphatic drainage (as there is early lymphedema on the lower part of my breast). Also 2nd week on Letrazole. Couple of days ago I have noticed several (8) bumps on areola (skin around the nipple). I never had these little raised bumps - I think they are called Montgomery glands. I learnt that they produce fluid to moisturise the nipple and usually come up in pregnancy. I am not pregnant (55) and wonder if they came up because of Letrazole, or Radiation or Lymphatic Drainage massage. Just to check with you girls before I call the nurse. Thank you

  • Hello gloria007,

I hope you will hear from the other ladies here who have had these little raised bumps before and that they will share their experience with you. It would definitely be worth calling the nurse who will be able to tell you more about it and whether it is linked to letrozole, radiation or lymphatic drainage massage. I am sure the nurse will be able to point you in the right direction.

I hope you find out more about this soon. Our nurses are also just a free phone call away on 0808 800 4040 - their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm if there is anything you would like to ask them.

    Best wishes,
