Meeting with surgeon

Hi all

i believe I have just been told I have Breast cancer.  I saw the Dr at the hospital and then sent to have an ultrasound followed by mammogram followed by biopsy.  I was told results take a week. I was then sent back to the Dr to get an appointment.  The Dr called me in and basically dropped it on me that my lump was malignant and it's in my lymph nodes as well.  This was such a shock to me as she 2 hours earlier had told me it was a cyst.   She then said I will see the surgeon next week to discuss my treatment.

I was on my own and burst into tears with the shock. I came out not knowing what was happening to me.   Thinking about it further I don't understand why she has told me that? How could she know it's malignant before getting the biopsy results?

I'm so upset about the way it's been handled and that I have to wait 10 days before I see the surgeon and get the biopsy results.  My head is spinning.  I don't know what will happen at my meeting with the surgeon.  Can anyone help? Will they tell me all the treatment I'll need - I'm so scared of the thought of chemo

  • Take someone with you they may have to wait in the area outside the clinic for your appointment but they can see the doctor with you. The strict no extras in hospital have been relaxed, to enable relatives to attend appointments when needed.

l hope you are able to get the answers you need do take a list of questions you would like to ask. It's hard to remember everything when you get home that's why l recommend a friend or family to go with you.

    Take care
