My husband was diagnosed with lung cancer last week . We was told this type of cancer is not operable the consultant said that a tumour was around his oesophagus and thats why my husband had pain when eating he also said quite a few lymph nodes have shown up on the ct and he thinks its in both lungs . In the past 7 days he has had a brain scan with contrast , PET scan (full body ) , breathing test and EBUS with biopsies . He was given a script for morphine patches , two weeks of Dexamethosone syrup and oramorph at the appointment . We go back tomorrow to see consultant for results and staging . My husband cant have MRI due to pacemaker he has so i think thats why the brain scan ? Everyone is saying for me to be positive but to me the words of the consultant didnt leave me much to be positive about . Please can anyone explain if this is normal proceedure for lung cancer .
