Mastectomy followed by axillary clearance

I had my right sided mastectomy 5 weeks ago and recovered really well, when I saw my consultant for my results he informed me that 3 of my nodes had traces, I was given the option of radiotherapy & chemo or Axillary clearance & chemo, I have opted for clearance but wondered if anyone had taken the same route and how soon after would chemo start and how many sessions roughly, I should of asked my consultant but he’s very much one step at a time which is good but I like to forward plan, any further info/advice very much appreciated

    I can certainly understand you wanting to plan ahead and find out as much information as possible. Really it will be your specialist who will be best placed to answer your questions, so hopefully your next appointment isn't too far away so that you have the opportunity to discuss things further.

    You are welcome to give our nurses a call if you'd like to talk things through with someone in the meantime. They wouldn't be able to advise specific to your treatment plan, but they may be able to give some general advice or information.
