Mixed breast cancer- ductal & lobular, anyone else had this?

Hi I've been told I have a mixed breast cancer ..ductal and lobular so I had a MRI on Monday to see the exact size and to see if it has spread but they did tell me last week that the ultrasound didnd show anything in my arm pit .has anyone had similar to this? Xx

  • Hello Leanne.T

I'm sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis. It's understandably a difficult time for you.

I know that we have had many ladies post here on the forum who have had different types of breast cancer at the same time. Hopefully, some of them will post to share their stories with you soon.

It's really positive to hear that the ultrasound didn't give any immediate cause for concern with the lymph nodes in your armpit. Hopefully, the MRI results will give you further reassurance and give the breast team the information they need to plan your surgery.

We know that for many people, talking through their questions and concerns can help and I'd encourage you to think about having a chat with our team of nurses ahead of your next appointment with the Consultant. I'm sure they will be able to give you some advice, information, and support as well as possibly give you some other ideas about points you may want to raise with the team. If you'd like to chat with them they're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

Keep in touch Leanne and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Leanne - mine was both ductal and lobular but lymph nodes were clear.... the MRI will tell you for sure but I had the same experience as you - they told me in the ultrasound that they couldn't see any swelling or anything sinister in the nodes... still didn't stop the constant anxiety until the MRI results came back xx

  • Had my results and it hasn't spread so that's good news for me so I now have my plan and my lumpectomy is on the first of march..such a weight has been lifted I really thought it was going to be bad news. X thanks for everyone's support xx

  • That's great news Leanne, and a quick surgery date - sounds like you've got it cornered... fingers crossed for you for 1st March xx
