Hi, my 84 yr old mum was rushed to hospital last Dec with a perforated bowel, op went well and within a month she was back walking to shops and being her old self. Mum lives alone and is very independent, I live 2 hours from her and my siblings all live miles away too.! Jan 22 she was rushed back in with a blockage 7 days on 'drip and suck' her body condition deteriorated drastically, then a surgeon called to say he was sorry but during the op in Dec they'd diagnosed her with 'aggressive untreatable cancer' Although had neglected to let her or us know.
As you can imagine we're in shock.! So they've now gone ahead and operated again to create a stoma.
we are 2wks in and mum is in lots of pain and deteriorating rapidly. I don't know what to do for the best- surgeon who's spoken to me twice during the whole time has said there's no treatment
should she be under the oncology team anyway.?
should I get her in a hospice.?
Due to covid we haven't been allowed to visit her and I'm so devastated to think my mums just going to die in pain in a hospital bed when she could be offered more 'help' although I don't know what that help should be ♀️
Any advice would be much appreciated xxx
