Shadow on lung grew and diagnosed with likely cancer

Looking for someone with similar experiences please? My nan had a scan in October 2021 that showed a shadow on her lung. She was referred to a lung specialist who gave her antibiotics and booked a rescan for another 3 months and told her that the shadow could be an infection scarring or worst case scenario, cancer. She has gone back for another scan in January and they've said it had grew. They have diagnosed her with likely cancer of the lung but said she is too frail to have any further treatment or investigation.

has anyone else gone through this?

  • Hello mynamesabbey

I'm sorry to hear that your Nan has recently been told that it's likely she has lung cancer. It's always hard to hear that news and often more so when the patient is too frail for further tests or treatment.

Has the Dr given your Nan any indication about further monitoring her or has she been referred to another team for care?

It's understandable that you may be feeling worried and want to make sure that your Nan has the best care possible. If you'd like to chat things through with one of our team of nruses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm. I'm sure they will be happy to offer any information, advice, and support that they can.

Keep in touch Abbey and let us know how you're all doing.

    Best wishes,
