Just been diagnosed with primary breast cancer

Hi, it's just a bit of a shock and was wondering how other ladies in same situation coping with the news?

  • Hi jetriley,

I was diagnosed in Sept with grade 3 triple negative invasive ductal cancer, and yes it is a massive shock to hear the words no one ever wants to hear.
The worst part for me was actually telling people I would get emotional doing so, even now a few months in and in the middle of treatment I sometimes loose it, this is completely normal, I have an amazing friend who I off load to quite regularly,  if you have someone close to talk to this will help immensely.

Do you have a treatment plan yet?  The waiting for things to happen can be quite stressful, but once you get a plan and start treatment it does get easier.

remember to take time for yourself and we are all here to chat if you need to.

    xx

  • Hi Jet

I was diagnosed on the 26th January. It is shock  but the care I have received so far from the breast cancer team is second to none, there is so much support. Do you have treatment plans, etc. Have you met a breast cancer nurse? Reach out to any that can help you and make sure you get all the support you need. This group is lovely for a bit of kindness with a 'middle of the night' worry.

    take care

  • Hi, I was diagnosed on the 18th of January. I am getting my surgery on the 17th February and I'm really anxious about that. I had got myself in such a state waiting on my results that once I got them and knew what I was facing I seemed to calm down. The care I've received so far has been amazing and I trust I'm in good hands. Always here for a chat if you need to.
