My wife has just been diagnosed with Bile Duct cancer

We have recently received the devastating news my 39yr old wife has Bile duct cancer. I am trying to be optimistic as i can be for her but the lack of information and willingness to try things is getting her down. She cant have surgery but is told it is localised in the bile duct, we have discussed Radiotherapy or proton bema therapy but just get rebuffed with no explanation are there ways of getting these done privately? We are willing to try anythig and i have her on all sorts of smoothies, supplements and we are even contemplating searching american doctors. With 2 young children we want better than a "we will try and control and shrink a little" kind of responses. Anyone have any feedback or guidance?

  • Hi

Sorry to hear about your wife's diagnosis.

My mum was recently diagnosed with Liver/Gall bladder cancer, her bile ducts were blocked due to the cancer. This caused yellow skin and eyes (this is why we found out about the cancer)

We was told applying 1 stent would be risky and if worked, she could be really ill. The hospital wasn't very good and I think due to her age of 61 they wasn't keen on doing much.

We spoke to a private consultant who said he can do the stent in several bile ducts and was confident about it, but mum sadly lost her battle before going in to have the MRI ahead of the operation.

Please look into going private or getting a referral to a hospital with a cancer unit, sadly sone hospitals are better than others and your wife deserves the best.

    Xx

  • Sorry to hear the news about your wife

I agree my was diagnosed with bile duct cancer in 2017 and has a stent put in it didn't work and he was in hospital for 3 months before he refused treatment altogether as he was 67 and just to stubborn to accept help.but unfortunately he gained his wings 2 weeks later so yes I would do anything to get treatment for hope you.get the answers your looking for
