New

Hi All,

I'm in so much confusion and unsure what's going on but panicking the worse! I have health aniexty and week before Christmas went to the doctors with a lump, he fast tracked me to have a scan which I did at the start of January! I went for my biopsy results Thursday evening to tell me I have breast cancer. I am so worried that I'm going to die.

I have to have a MRI on Tuesday, they've told me it's grade 1, hormonal Eastogren positive.

I have two young boys one with aniexty due to covid and very sensitive I need to tell him I have to have surgery.

  • Hi Dani

Sorry to hear you are going through this especially over christmas. It is a horrible shock, I was diagnosed in November.

I know its hard but try not too think the worse Grade 1 is the slowest growing and the fact that it's Hormone positive means you will also be able to have hormone treatment as well as any other treatment.

I had to have a mastectomy , but you may just have the lump removed.Even with a mastectomy I was out of hospital that evening.I would wait until you know what you are dealing with until you tell your boys.

Do you know what type it is lobular or ductile ?

My MRI took about 40 mins , you just have to lie still on your front in the machine.

    xx

  • Hi, thank you for your reply. Thank you also for your reassurance and explanation. I have so many scenarios going through my head

I'm pretty sure it's ductile they said.

Was you seen and had appointment for surgery quickly? Xx

  • Hi

No problem , I was diagnosed on 6 October , saw surgeon and had MRI , then back to surgeon at the end of October who told me at that appointment that he could do the operation on 17th November.

There are time guidelines they need to follow so you should get an operation date quite quickly I think.

You will also get a breast care nurse allocated to you who can explain things to you.

This is a good forum for asking questions as well and can help to stop the anxiety getting to much.

Hope the MRI goes OK . Here if you need to chat x

  • Hello

Try not to think the worst, I too had a lump that was Grade 2 Invasive Ductal Cancer. Your team will look at the MRI And scans and decide the best treatment for you.
I had surgery and treatment and am 2 years in remission now and feeling fine. I am on hormone medication as I was oestrogen positive. I'd wait to tell your boys until you have all the info,It's overwhelming I know but try to stay positive, lots of support here and your team will look after you

    Best wishes
