Chemoradiation treatment for lung cancer

Hi all,  new to this site. Hubby has been diagnosed with stage 3a non small cell lung cancer. He has been offered chemoradiation therapy with  either 30 or 33 radiotherapy sessions 5 days a week for 6 weeks with one day a week chemotherapy for 6 weeks.  Terrified of the side effects we have been told about. Has anyone been through similar treatment.  I believe chemo is carboplatin and paclitaxil. Any help would be great.

  • Hello treecott

I'm sorry to hear about your husband's diagnosis. It's naturally a worrying time for you both and understandable that you're both feeling scared of his upcoming treatment.

It's important to try and remember that everyone is different and the side effects vary from person to person. He might not have all of the effects mentioned by the Consultant but it is important that you're both aware of things.

Hopefully if we've anyone here on the forum who has been through the same treatment they'll reply to share their experiences and advice with you. We do also have a team of nruses that you're most welcome to call to talk with. I'm sure they will be happy to offer any advice and support that they can. They're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

I do hope all goes smoothly for you both. Keep in touch and let us know how you're both doing.

    Best wishes,
