Trying to process all this, first my sister, now me

Hi I am new to the forum, just wanted to share as sometimes you loved ones have thre own concerns.Myself and my sister look after my mum whom has Alzheimer's and has had this for 10years now and is still in our family home which my sister lives with her and her 2grown up children but last year my sister was diagnosed with stage 3 vulva cancer.

So this was a shock to all the family after all the scans etc she started radiotherapy ad chemotherapy which she dealt with great she is such a fighter.Sfter this she found out it spread to her pelvis,so more chemotherapy and now before Xmas was told it has stayed contained but has to be scanned in another 6 weeks this will be on going in between all this I myself was diagnosed with bowel cancer last week and this is just unbelievable as I have been attending all these visits with my sister and taking her for her treatment and now this is happening to me.

I just keep thinking of my mum as her 2 daughters have cancer and she doesn't even know.

Had to get that all out xx

  • Hi Newyorker48,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. Firstly I'm glad that you found the forum - it's certainly a safe space to write things down and reach out to others, particularly if it can be difficult to speak to others around you. We're always here for support whenever you need it and I hope that the forum can be a small help to you.

I'm sorry to hear of your situation - this is an awful lot to deal with and I can only imagine how difficult it must be. It sounds like there is still a lot of uncertainty in terms of your sister's and your own situation, so keep on taking things one day at a time and keep looking after yourself. Hopefully you'll have all the information and next steps you need before too long.

As I say, we're always here whenever you feel you'd like a little support.

Take care and wishing you all the best,
