How are you doing? I too was diagnosed with Grade 3 invasive ductal carcinoma, triple negative right breast cancer, on 1st Dec. I get my results on 14th Jan, where I will find out my stage and treatment plan.

Since my diagnosis, I have took one step forwards and two steps backwards, (many times) so I also struggled to remain positive, but thank heavens I had the distraction of the Christmas preparations to take away worries and fears.

With Christmas now gone, I only have the lovely positive ladies who are going/have been through the very same crisis we are anxious about. These ladies gave me strength and hope to carry on. In between waiting for my upcoming appointments, I found the posts were helpful and gave some comfort with some of my queries, which would have any other time have me calling my BCN constantly!

I understand for some individuals, only health professionals will ease their minds, and no amount of reassurance outside of this will convince them otherwise. 

I believe we are at the same situation with regards to diagnosis and treatment plan, but it sounds like you will get there before me, so maybe we can address the uphill battle you mentioned and perhaps you can let me know what I may come across and keep me in the loop with your journey?

Hi i am 55 and got diagnosed with breast cancer on the 14th December i had a MRI scan last Tuesday get my results and treatment plan on the 30th it cant come quick enough i think i have the same cancer as you but it has to be confirmed my life at the moment is full of dread but i have to stay positive for myself and family xxxx

On 8th Nov, a 4cm lump could be seen on the first mammogram/ultrasound, but they didnt know what it was, so sent it away for testing. (I was told it could be something sinister) so it wasn't a surprise when the results on 1st Dec came back as cancer. However, when it came back, there was another area with a smaller lump which was apparently hiding behind the 4cm lump, which also  needed to be tested. After a lot of confusion, I had a second biopsy on 22nd Dec.

This wasn't clear cut either! The radiologist couldn't find the smaller lump, even after having an ultrasound and 3D imaging, but he put a marker where it appeared on the initial images and took a biopsy. 

From what I have read on your post, your life is full of dread but it does appear to be running smoothly in a timely manner. I'm pleased you were only diagnosed on 14th Dec, and you will have your results and treatment plan by 30th Dec. I can only suppose different Care Trusts have different timescales?

Anyway, the most important thing is, you'll soon be on the first step of the ladder to recovery.

My story is got breast apt in June as left nipple inverted got diagnosed with duct ectasia by having an ultrasound something women get after menopause (blocked milk ducts) and told nothing to worry about.

Fast forward to October the same breast became hot red patches and a lump started to grow, visited gp thought the ducts had got some kind of infection so 3 weeks worth of antibiotics it didn't clear.

So another 2ww referral to be told cancer !!! so had two biopsies as it is also in my under arm lymph nodes so MRI bloods done got CT scan Thursday morning then treatment plan info in the afternoon, been told prob chemo first to try and shrink the tumour then surgery being honest with they would cut it all out first as i am scared of it getting bigger.

It was harder telling my family and friends as not said anything as thought cancer was the last thing i had.  I last 7 1b in the first week as couldn't face food but must be handling things better as put it all back on.

i will update you after my hospital visit.

I forgot to say my lump is 5 cm size xxx

Hope you are ok. 

I was told if the smaller lump they found was suspicious, I would have to have surgery first, as it would make the whole area 7cm, it would then be followed by chemo. If it turned out as benign, I would have chemo to shrink the lump then surgery then radiotherapy afterwards to get rid of any 'stray cells'. Either way I will be having one of these procedures, the question is when?

I have been told my lymph nodes are clear (as far as I know), so they will tell all when I go for results. I have 3 agonising weeks wait, so I'm thinking of calling to see if they have any cancellations (doubt it, but who knows?)

You say you're eating better now. You were probably too wound up at the thought of the unknown, but now you have a diagnosis, and you are about to get your treatment plan in a couple of days, so yes, that's probably why you are handling things better. 

Btw, I'm 58

I have just today been diagnosed with grade 3 invasive ductal carcinoma, triple negative.

The doctor is saying lumpectomy and biopsy then radiotherapy. May be able to avoid chemo but the cancer nurse said it is likely.

Due to give birth and likely to have a c section next week to get things moving.

can anyone recommend any type of counselling that is useful. I have a feeling I'm going to need it!

Also, how did you go about telling friends and family? Did you tell a select few or everyone. Still processing so not told family yet but have told a few friends as I find it easier. 

Hi hun I replied on your other feed aswel but i was referred for counciling by my Consultant, ask him/her next time you speak with them to refer you.

Hope you are fine. 

I'm glad things are moving along fairly quickly for you, and it's brilliant. I'm sorry I can't let you know what the next step might entail, because I still haven't had my treatment plan as yet. Hopefully I will hear of this on Friday.

Like you I only told a few friends, I've decided to tell family a bit later when I'm armed with some knowledge as to what is/not happening next. This forum is a great platform to be a part of, and I'm sure someone will reply to the counselling you're asking about.
