Terrified of upcoming Cholangiocarcinoma surgery. Pls help

hi I got sepsis back in August and ended up on life support for a month. Then again in September and again in November. In the midst of all this I have been diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma and due to my poor health it will be January when I get 3/4 of my liver removed. I am absolutely terrified of this surgery and am wondering if anybody here can tell me anything about it or how long it takes, recovery time, pain, etc.

I'm struggling with the whole thing

  • Hello Maryk45

I'm so sorry to hear about all that you've been through the past few months. You really have been through the mill and it's understandable that you're feeling so worried about your upcoming surgery.

We do have some information on our website about surgery for cholangiocarcinoma which may answer some of your questions but you may also want to give our team of nurses a call to chat things through. Our nurse helpline is now closed for Christmas, but they will be back in the office on Wednesday 29th December and are available 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040 if you'd like to chat with them. I'm sure they will be able to offer some advice and support.

Keep in touch Maryk45 and let us know how you get on over the coming weeks. We'll do our best to support you through this.

    Best wishes,
