Hi, I'm new to this. I recently had a polyp removed which was sent for biopsy. They told me at the time there was nothing sinister looking going on however when they looked at the polyp they found complex atypical hyperplasia. Yesterday I received a call asking me to come in for an mri scan today. I had the mri scan this morning and the gynae nurse came to speak with me afterwards. Apparently due to the high risk of it developing into cancer they recommend a full hysterectomy, not exactly what I wanted to hear as I am 40 and don't really want to go through the menopause yet but I have my children and don't plan to have anymore so not the end of the world. What is concerning me is all the leaflets they have handed me about cancer and the what ifs, what if there is a tumour they have missed all the times they have scanned me, groped me, tested my blood etc. What if it's spread all over my body and there is nothing they can do? What if it's really aggressive. My friend was in a similar situation last year facing a hysterectomy due to a massive tumour on her ovary and now she's not here anymore, this is also playing on my mind!

Has anybody else had an experience like this and what was the outcome?
