Any positive info on post cath removal and ongoing leaking.

Hi All

Update on my previous post.....

Have had my surgery and now almost two weeks post.  Last Thursday catheter removed.  Not painfull so gratefull for that.

However I'm struggling a bit with incontinence.  I knew it would be literally a pain but not like this.  I already had obtained some Tena for Men but soon these were not enough. Bought some Attends 8 massive pads, hold a lot of liquid but not for going out as they are   rather bulky.  I've looked at other folks experiences on forums but am asking if anyone here can give me their timescale from cath removal until they felt able to go out and about.  I do have discomfort bordering on minor pain and wondering if that can be managed or anyone say when I can expect trhat to decrease. I know everyone is different with other timescales but just need a bit of hope to look forward too moving forward.  Failed to mention I will be having my follow up near future with PSA results so I guess thats playing on my mind.

Thanks for reading this and hopefully responding.

  • Hello diggers

I'm sorry to hear that you're struggling with some post-surgery problems. It's understandable that you're feeling frustrated and anxious about things.

Hopefully, some of our members who have had this surgery will post to share their experiences with you but in the meantime, I wanted to suggest that you might also like to have a look at the Prostate Cancer UK forum which is obviously much more specific. I'm sure you'll be able to chat with others there as well as possibly using their buddy service if that's something you feel might be helpful.

If you've not spoken to your nurse specialist about the pain you're experiencing then do give them a call for some advice about the best way to manage this. Alternatively, you're welcome to call our nurses for some support and information. They're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

I do hope that things settle for you soon.

    Best wishes,
