I'm sorry about the pain you've experiencing since having your lobectomy earlier this year Sharay.
As you'll see here, some people, unfortunately, may have pain that lasts for quite a while but should improve as time goes on. For the moment though, it would be best to let your doctor/medical team know about this as they will be able to provide you with medication to relieve the pain and make it more manageable.
Hopefully some of our other members who have had this treatment will share their experiences and advice with you soon but if you'd like to discuss this with one of our cancer nurses, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.
I really hope the pain starts to improve for you soon Sharay.
Kind regards,

Hi Sharay.
I had a similar surgery (left upper lobectomy) in March. Was yours via thoracotomy, i.e. open surgery? It seems quite a few people do get pain including nerve pain after, resulting from what is done to gain access to your lung.
Are you having adjuvant treatment such as chemo?
I think it's not unusual to have pain that lasts for a few months but it's worth having a discussion with the team looking after you. They can advise you on pain relief. And let them know if you are experiencing any other symptoms like breathlessness, night sweats or anything new.
They tend to quote recovery from lobectomy as 6 to 12 weeks but I feel that 6 weeks is ridiculously optimistic. It's a big op!
Best wishes.
Thankyou for your reply I don't need chemotherapy thankfully .i spoke to lung nurse yesterday she said I have to get in touch with my GP I will be doing that today . I'm hoping they will give me some pain relief she also said it sounds like nerve damage .
