Prostate Cancer - constant irritation

Hi all, I am new to this forum.

I am 61 years old and had a radical prostatectomy over two months ago. Since the operation I have had a constant irritation in the bladder / penis area (its difficult to locate specfically). I can best describe the irritation as 'stinging' and is mostly bearable but occasionally unbearable. The irritation makes me want to pee constantly. I would have expected after two months the irritation to subside but it has not.

Has anyone else has a similar experience ?

I look forward to hearing your views, thank you.

  • Hello Alcazaba

I'm sorry to hear that you're still dealing with some problems following your recent surgery. A radical prostatectomy is considered to be major surgery and so it may be that things need more time to settle which understandably can be frustrating.

If you've not already spoken to your Consultant or Nurse Specialist about these side effects then please do chat with them. It may be that they're able to offer some advice or medication to help.

Alternatively, if you'd like to talk things through with one of our nurses you're most welcome to give them a call. They're available Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm on 0880 800 4040.

I do hope that things settle for you soon.

    Best wishes,
