Fingernails. Help pls.

Hi all. Hope you are all coping well with whatever you are going through.

I'm looking for some help/ advice.

My nails have gone funny. I won't go out without them covered bya dark  nail varnish as they look terrible. I know it's due to the chemo I had 3 fec and 2 docitacol . Last one was cancelled as I had every side effect  going.  Thankfully I've completed the chemo and radiation therapy however my nails r not doing so great. Any tips on what it is and how to help grow them properly again

  • Hello Veroni1

Hopefully, we've some ladies here on the forum who can share their tips and advice for nail care. I do know that using quick-drying nail polish can dry out your nails more so be careful about the type that you use. You might also want to have a look at using a topical nail oil or moisturising cream that you can apply to help as well.

I do hope that they improve for you!

    Best wishes,

  • Hello,

Sorry to hear you're struggling with your nails. I'm not sure if you've heard of Polybalm? It's designed to be used during treatment, but may be worth using after too? It's quite expensive (£40 for two mascara sized applicators- one for your hands and one for your feet), however, it's kept my nails in good shape, and when my thumb (only part affected) starts to discolour on the day of chemo I use it and it returns to normal by the next day and I continue to use it for 3 days only.

The Navala Nailactan and other nail products work well too and have good reviews.

    Good luck.
