Mum dying of stage 4 OC

So mum, 82, was diagnosed last May,  stage 4 aggressive ,palliative only, she refused chemo so basically its a waiting game

Doc came yesterday,  filled out the DNR and told me it was weeks she had

Mum wants to be at home and thats fine but I haven't the first clue how to help her, her feet are so swollen she can hardly walk to the loo, should they be elevated? Should she be lying down all the time? She's often sick so this worries me

She takes morphine so is always sleepy   should I be rousing her to take her medication???

I really don't know what to do for the best

I think I've posted this in the wrong place so please move as required

  • Hi Yonny,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to read of what you're going through at the moment with your mum.

It sounds as if these issues should really be discussed with your mum's doctor/specalist - so if you are able to do so, try to give them a call, particularly regarding questions around medication.

It may also be helpful to talk this through with our nurses. You can reach them on 0808 800 4040 - Monday-Friday, 9-5, and hopefully they can offer some advice on this.

We're always here for you on this forum if you ever need any general support or to write things down at any point.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
