Pregnant 3 months after treatment

Hello, last year my partner got diagnosed with aml, treatment was a success and he is now in remission (he only had chemo).

we believed getting pregnant would be impossible as that is what we were lead to believe but 3 months after he finished treatment I'm pregnant. We had the first scan and everything seems fine. I've searched the internet many times trying to find someone that has had a similar story but I can't find anything. I'm worried about the health of my baby to the point I'm losing sleep. I am 15 weeks.

does anyone know anyone that this has happened to and had a healthy baby?

  • Hello Rose91

I'm sorry to hear about all that you and your partner have been through over the past year. I'm sure there were some difficult times. It's great to hear that he is now in remission and that you've had this huge surprise of a baby!

I'm glad that all was well at the first scan but it's understandable that you're feeling worried. I think most Mum's to be experience some anxiety about the health of their unborn baby but with all that your partner has been through I can imagine that that anxiety is heightened.

I know we've had a number of members who have gone on to have a baby during or shortly after their own treatment and hopefully some of them may stop by to share their experiences with you. Have you spoken to your Midwife or GP about your concerns? Please do let them know how you're feeling.  Hopefully, they will be able to offer you some further advice and reassurance ahead of your next scan in a few weeks.

I know it's difficult but try to take each day as it comes, stay positive and enjoy this pregnancy as much as you can.

    Sending my best wishes,
