I finished all my treatment Chemo and Radio about 2 months ago now. I am now on Tamoxifen for the next 10 years. The cancer was taken out with clear margins and I had a full axilliary node removal as one node was positive for cancer. I was told that there was no evidence of disease and that I was for the time being 'cancer free' All my scans back in March came back clear on bones/lungs etc. Things have been good the past few months since treatment ended apart from the achey joints from the Tamoxifen things really haven't been too bad.
However, I am really worrying now as for the past two weeks I have had what seems like the beginning of a chest infection starting but nothing has come out. I have a strange burning in the centre of my chest which is there all the time. I haven't had a cold/temp or any other signs and def don't think it's covid. I am worrying now that it could be the cancer that has spread to my lungs....
What I would like to ask you all is if anyone has experienced this after radiotherapy as apparently this can damage your lungs and affect your breathing. I have called the Dr this morning and I am waiting to get a call back from the Triage team as I really need to get this checked out. I have been awake since 3 am feeling so scared to be back in this situation and worrying so much as I know that the prognosis is not so good if it goes to your lungs and I am just not ready to leave my beautiful family just yet.
I am feeling incredibly lonely as I don't want to tell my mum as I don't want to worry her unneccessarily - she has been through enough with having to stay away from me throughout the whole of the cancer diagnosis\treatment and lockdown etc My husband is amazing but he always just tells me not to worry - I think it scares him too much to think about things tbh. He's been through enough already too.
Is there anyone out there who has secondary bc in their lungs that could tell me how they felt when they first discovered the cancer had spread? How did you feel? Did you have a really awful cough? Did your chest hurt when you breathed in?
Thanks to anyone that can help....xxx
