Damaged nerves following stoma reversal

Following my stoma reversal I am in unbearable pain. My gp has increased my meds to morphine, tramadol and gabapentin which are still yet to have any effect. They said that this could heal in 6-8weeks or it might not in which case I could be stuck like this unles there's some surgery which could be done. Has anybody had anything like this and can give me some advice. I literally now cannot do anything other than lie in bed or sit in the sofa anything other than that is extremely painful. Thank you

  • I'm sorry about the pain you're currently in following your stoma reversal Archie. I can't begin to imagine how difficult this must be for you, especially when you're waiting for the current meds to kick in, but fingers crossed you'll start to feel the effects of them soon and the pain becomes easier to manage.

  • Hello Archie2020,

you do not say how long it is since you had your reversal, and l am trying to understand if your pain is coming from the operation site or the bowel when you are passing stools, but your post is not too clear on the finer points.l had a mighty struggle to get back to normal with my reversal, and l well remember being absolutely drained and spending a lot of time being horizontal on a bed.At least you have a good deal of your journey behind you,so if you can get through this final hurdle, life will get awfully better again.l hope those painkillers kick in soon,

                                                                                   fingers crossed for improvement,

                                                                                                                                             David
