Tamoxifen - has anyone else had aches and dizziness?

I have been taking tamoxifen for 18 months and recently last month I've been experiencing aches and pains in my arms neck back legs infact all over dizziness. Has anyone else experienced this .

  • Hiya, I started tamoxifen on the 1st July this year, all was fine for the first 4 weeks but I then started having dizzy spells and feeling weird. I have also developed stiffness in my shoulder and neck but I’ve been told this is probably due to the radiotherapy I had in June.

The dizziness has got better the last few months but I did noticed that the dizziness was worse after taking a new batch of tablets.. it was a different brand to the ones I was used to so I always now tray and get the brand that suits me best.

  • Ive had to stop tamoxifen.

women on it should be closely monitored. Regular internal examinations and ultrasoubds.

its caused a massive thickening og my womb to 35mm the growth of disgusting huge polyps. One had to removed in clinic it was hanging down through cervix- and is being tested for womb cancer, and my ovaries are now full of cysts. One of which maybe tamoxifen induced ovatian cancer.
    truly shocking.

  • Ahh yes your post explains a lot. I too have been feeling dizzy and weird and couldn't think what it could be but it makes sense now. It's a horrible feeling hope it goes away soon. I am day 3 of 15 of radiotherapy and have IV herceptin and pertuzamab today worried about the effects? Anyone had the same treatment and what was the impact?

  • Hi Lupita,

i just thought I’d reply to you with regards to how I’m coping with ongoing treatment. Like you I’m HER2 positive so I have also been having herceptin and pertuzimab every 3 weeks. I’ve just had number 13 of 18. My main side effects from this is that my nose will start to run spontaneously which is very annoying. I do also get an upset tummy for a few days after the infusion.

In August i developed a very sore stiff shoulder, neck and tenderness around the collar bone area. I’ve been told this due to the radiotherapy I had back in June. It has slowly improved and I’m doing daily stretches and exercises to improve mobility.

I do still get the odd days when I have a fuzzy head type feeling, dizziness and body aches and pains but I’m pretty sure they are all caused by the tamoxifen.

i hope your radiotherapy went well and you’re not suffering with to many side effects.

    Take care fishnchips x

  • I also have a runny nose in particular at nighttime, bizarre side effect? Same 12 out of 18 herceptin and pertuzamab . The radiotherapy has turned my skin very dark, and the skin is sore through what I think is chaffing, it hurts when I move my arm could be radiotherapy, who knows?

not sure about continuing with the Tamoxifen because of the way it makes me feel can't imagine having those symptoms for the next 10 years
