Hi Annemcc,
I am sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with Lymphoedema. I have had this for 11 years in both arms and breasts following a double mastectomy.
Lorraine's advice is the best approach. I initially attended one of our great cancer centres for self-help classes and was taught how to bandage my arms myself. I was later referred to a specialist Lymphoedema clinic. I have had drainage carried out by machine and manually by a specialist Lymphoedema nurse. The latter was by far the best treatment for me.
I attend for 2 weeks every 12 weeks and after my twice a week drainage, I am bandaged up in layers of compression bandages from shoulder to fingertips. In between these visits I use a compression bra and compression elasticated sleeves. I also have a waffle type of compression sleeve which I wear at night.
The kinesio tape didn't work for me either.
Do please let us know how you get on.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
