Aromatise inhibitors - does anyone tolerate them well?

I have just had surgery and am trying to anticipate and prepare for what is next. My question is: Does anyone manage to tolerate and live well whilst taking aromatase inhibitors?

  • Hello Sa1lor

I hope that you're recovering well from your surgery.
I think it's natural for people to be concerned about what comes next when they reach a new phase in their treatment programme. I think you'll find lots of members here who have varying experiences with AI's and what side effects they do or don't have and how well they feel they've been able to tolerate them. Not everyone will experience side effects and some people find that different types are more tolerable that others.

What I would say is that once you start your AI's keep a note of any side effects you experience and do speak to your Consultant or specialist nurse about these before they become a problem. It may be that they are able to offer suggestions to help better manage things.

If you'd like to talk to one of our nurses about your concerns then do give them a call. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

  • Thank you Jenn for your reply - it really does help to have someone there to listen and answer questions. Another lady, Jolamine has also been very kind and helpful.

    kind regards,
