Heat Rashes after Breast Cancer treatment and on Anastrozole

Hi I have done the trinity of ops, chemo and radiotherapy and am now on Anastrozole

My temperature control isn't working and I am getting hot fushes which are not nice but I can cope.

My biggest problem is that when I get hot I come out in a full body heat rash, from feet to chest. On bad days I look like I have measels and apart from being itchy when I am hot and bothered I am struggling with what it looks like when I am out, as a rash is now a recognised Covid symptom! I can get a rash just having a warm shower!

My Oncologist says it is not a recognised side effect but my GP can't believe I am the only one suffering with this and has suggested asking if anyone else has had this symptom.

The GP has also suggested calling the Oncologist again but I thought it would be interesting to find out first if I am alone in this

Over the counter antihistamines aren't working, my first lot from the doctors aren't available apparently so I am still waiting for a new prescription

Anyone out there having the same problem?

Thank you my lovelies!

  • Hello Dawnidoodah

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing this heat rash type response to your hot flushes. I'm sure that you're not the only person to have this kind of physical flushing effect as well as feeling very hot.

I know that some of the ladies here on the forum have mentioned taking medications prescribed by their GP or Consultant to help counteract the actual flushes and I wonder if something like that may help with the physical symptoms that you're experiencing. May be worth having a chat with your GP and seeing if they think it's worth a try.

Alternatively have a chat with your Oncologist and see if there is an alternative to anastrozole that you can try.

I do hope that things calm down for you soon!
    Best wishes,
