Life after treatment

Good evening,

Just looking for a bit of advice,

Iam 4 months post radiotherapy & chemotherapy treatment for tonsillar cancer.

Physically I feel good, still a bit tired but on the whole doing well.

My main concern is the sore mouth, every time I eat my tounge burns and stings. I can manage plain biscuits dipped in a cuppa but any thing else hurts. It's really getting me down.

I was warned about the dry mouth which is a challenge but can overcome that with sipping water through meal times.

Has any body else had the same experience.

Thanks

Judy

  • Hi there ..

My granddaughter had the same after her treatment .. it was an infection .. she had sips of cold water .. and ice cream for a while but needed antibiotics to help ... so if I were you, call your oncology team tomoz or Dr and see if you need some to help ... apparently it is quite common ..

Let us know how you go ... good luck ... and well done for getting through treatment ... it's a slow recovery ... just baby steps ... remember how far you've come ... so high 5 ... fingers crossed your seeing the light at the end of the tunnel ...  Chrissie x
