Neuropathy

Hi - i had good news on my tumours shrinking and am now off of the chemo but I feel flat.  I did not know there would be so many side effects coming off.  Will this last forever?.  I cant sleep very well due to Neuropathy which has left my arm gong dead constanly through the night and my feet tingle all day.  The only time it stops is when I  exercise but  I have also lost alot of mobility in my arm.  It has also been hard being told the port will stay in - possible for some years yet and that feels like a constant reminder to me of the Cancer.  I guess someoone out there has also gone through this and your thoughts welcome.  I was so positive and strong during chemo.  Any adice most welcome!

  • Hello Hope1234

I'm sorry to hear that you're struggling with things at the moment. It can be really difficult living with the side effects of treatment but hopefully the fact that you've bee ntold thst you tumours are shrinking has given you a boost.

There's some useful information on the Macmillan website about neuropathy that you may find helpful but I'd really suggest that you speak to your Consultant or GP about ways in which you can best manage these issues.

You may find it helps to talk things through with one of our team of nurses as well. They would be happy to chat to you and I'm sure will be able to offer some advice and support through this phase of your recovery. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

I'm sure that there are other members here on the forum who will have experienced similar thoughts and feelings and hopefully they will pop along to offer their support too.

Do keep in touch Hope1234 and let us know how you're getting on.

    Best wishes,
