pulling\stretching pain inner leg after lymph removal

hi

i had a lymph node removed in my left groin back in novemrber 2019, had some fluid build up which caused a pulling or stretching pain up my inner leg, that went away once all the fluid had found another route to drain to, but over the last 2 weeks that pain has returned and is now in the top of my foot as well as the inner leg.

Im just wondering if anyone had experienced a simliar feeling? did anything help to relieve it? It ony hurts when i walk or put a sock on so i tend to just ignore it. im struggling to know what this would be refered to, does it even have a name, what do you google or search for?

Im not due for a check up now until sepetmeber with the plastic surgeon so will ask again then. im not feeling any new lumps so dont think its serious but probably just a side affect of the intrusive surgery.

thanks in advance

  • Hi,

I had the same surgery 11 years ago. Do you also have any swelling in your leg/foot and/or is the skin feeling stretched or pink/red? It may be that you are starting with lymphoedema - this website will help you know if that is what you are getting & how to deal with it https://www.lymphoedema.org/

Don't leave it until your next appointment as, if lymphoedema, it needs dealing with quickly to stop it getting any worse. Once it's worse it can't be reversed, only managed. I started with it 2 weeks post op but it can happen any time after a node removal. Swift diagnosis & treatment meant that mine is mild. So contact your Specialist Nurse or the consultant's secretary and ask if your appointment can be brought forward. If it can't, go see your GP as soon as possible.

    Good luck,

    Angie (Stage 3 melanoma patient)
