Ivf

I was diagnosed with stage 3 cervical cancer, went through chemotherapy, radiotherapy and brachytheraphy. I was told this treatment would make me infertile and there was no option of doing fertility treatment prior cancer treatment.

Now I have finished treatment what are my fertility options can I go through IVF?? I'm 30 with no children and before I found out I had cervical cancer I was planning in having children and I'm nownstriggling to deal with the fact this may not be an option for me.

  • Hello Kerri89,

Well done for finishing treatment I hope it wasn't too difficult and that you are now recovering well from everything. It must have been a shock to you to have been told that treatment would make you infertile. You are right though  to want to explore your fertility options now that you have finished treatment. It would be a good time to make an appointment with your GP or to talk to your specialist about the options that are available to you at the moment or in the future. They will be in the best position to advise you further on this.

Our nurses are also available on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm if you want to talk things through with them.

Keeping everything crossed for you that you can soon find out what your fertility options might be and I wish you every success in that.

    Best wishes,
