Mastectomy scar

Hi all

i had a lumpectomy in 2018 and developed lymphodema following the nipple tattoo. My cancer returned in December 2019 and had a full mastectomy. 
following this I have nothing but pain from the scar. It's inflamed and in all honesty looks awful as it is swollen as well presumably lymphodema again. Has anyone else gone through this have any tips? I can't even sleep that side as it is so painful

  • I'm sorry about the pain you've been experiencing Loola. It sounds very challenging.

    Hopefully some of our members who have had similar issues will share their tips and advice with you soon but if you'd like to discuss this with one of our cancer nurses then do give them a call. They're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

    I hope things start to improve soon, but if they continue to be problematic do let your GP know.

    i don't think it's infected as been like it for weeks and have no other symptoms. I think you're right regarding nerve pain. They've referred me to the pain team thankfully
