Swapping from Tamoxifen after 5 years, to Letrozole

Hello to all. Just posting for the first time to say I am struggling badly with the side effects of Letrozole. I have been on Tamoxifen for 5 years, and whilst that took my body 7 months to get use to, the side effets wee bareable. However, I am not so lucky with Letrozole - I have now been on this for a fortnight and I can harldy walk for the pain in my hips, knees and feet. My shoulders too are really painful and stiff and I just keep  sleeping all the time. I have read on this site that a couple of you have sought relief in steroids but was hoping to hear from women who have, like me, started off with a really negative set of  side effects and found a way through them? Or if I should just call it a day as things are not likely to improve...... all donations of advice gladly received.

  • Hi Lindsey,

I have been in letrazole for nearly a year now after having breast cancer diagnosed last April, I have suffered really painful joints and have noticed that it varies with different makes of the tablet, I thought at first that they are all the same but have found that a myth, I have found a make now that is quite bearable, I do have flare ups now and again but just have a couple of days break, try different makes and I'm sure you will eventually find one that suits you.
