HER2 positive breast cancer

Pud

hello I was diagnosed with the above breast cancer in June. I've had six rounds of chemo and a mastectomy in January. No cancer found in lymph nodes. Awaiting three weeks of radiotherapy. Suffering with anxiety about cancer coming back. Any ideas to help with this.

  • Hello Pud and welcome to the forum.
I'm glad to hear that you're nearing the end of your planned treatment and that you've had positive news that your lymph nodes were clear.
Worrying about the cancer coming back and struggling to cope with feelings of uncertainty is common. It can be hard to deal with at times, but will usually get better as you recover.

Certain situations may trigger these feelings. For example, this could be going back to the hospital for a test, or reading or hearing something about cancer in the news.

There are different ways to help you manage worry and uncertainty. For example, try to focus on what you can control and do now rather than worrying about things that may never happen. This could include: talking about your feelings and getting support; finding helpful ways of managing anxiety and stress; getting back into activities you enjoyed before or starting new ones.

You can also talk to your doctor, specialist nurse or GP. They can give you advice on ways to manage your worries.

I hope that this final phase of your treatment goes smoothly.

    Best wishes,
