Osteosarcoma recovery and surgery recovery

I was recently diagnosed with primary osteosarcoma in my.left pelvis and under went excruciating chemotherapy and was extremely lucky to come out with a successful shrinkage I then had surgery. I had a pelvis reconstruction(replaced with metal screws bolts and cement) and a hip replacement on the left hand side only. Now due to my age being 29 years old being female and being 5ft exactly this was extremely rare and I am from wales which doesn't deal with the bones in the journey anyway after surgery I had a clear margin removed I then spent 2 month in hospital due to an almost immediate dislocation. I then came back to wales to have more chemotherapy just to clear up any remaining bad cells. I was then sent.to my local hospital for rehabilitation. Now I have had physiotherapy from many people in these hospitals and I am still unable to walk properly and independently. Can anyone suggest exercises or a physiotherapist that specializes in this as not many physiotherapists has come across this kind of disability. Please feel free to comment I will accept all kinds of help. Thanks

  • Hi Law90,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to read about everything you've been through recently - I can only imagine how tough it has been. Unfortunately I'm not able to advise on this. The only thing I can suggest is if you would like to give our nurses a call, you can do so on 0808 800 4040 - Monday-Friday, 9-5 - although whether they will be able to advise I'm not sure.

Otherwise hopefully your doctor or consultant could help.

I hope you're able to find out more soon.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
