After tamoxifen

I’ve been taking tamoxifen for 5 years and I’ve now stopped it in October 2019 . About a month after I had a really painful neck with pains shooting into my head . I used pain relief and some anti inflammatorys and have had good and bad days but it’s certainly not gone away so two months on I’m thinking the tamoxifen has caused issues with my joints , I had an X-ray and that showed early degenerative changes so not a lot going on in my bones this has to be joints , inflammed, burning and causing me headaches, tingling in my fingers and some strange tingles in my face too not every day though so not sure what’s happening to be honest has anyone else had these problems when stopping this? Had terrible cramp when I was on it , that’s better but I’m presuming my joints are affected .its getting me down a bit and I’m off on a long haul holiday in 3 weeks so not sure what to do apart from pop pills!! Thanks

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat Blum although I'm sorry about the issues you've been experiencing since coming off Tamoxifen last year. It must be very frustrating.

Have you discussed this with your doctor? If not, do be sure to let them know as they may be able to offer something that will help. You can also have a chat with our cancer nurses about this if you like on 0808 800 4040. Their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

Hopefully some of our ladies who have been in a similar situation will pop by soon as well.

    Kind regards,
