Colostomy bag

I have had to have a colostomy bag after my last cancer surgery it has been 5 weeks since i have had it and can see no light at the end of the tunnel at the moment of it improving. At this present time i can't find a solution to make it easier apart from not eating or killing myself i hope someone can tell me how it will get better or how i can make it better. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to how or when it works i barley sleep through worry and now i just don't want to eat so nothing comes out

  • I'm really sorry to read of the difficulties you're having with your colostomy bag Drifter.

It can take some time for the bowel to settle down after this surgery has been carried out as the information we have on our website about living with a colostomy bag shows, but hopefully some of our members who been through this will be along soon to share their tips and experiences with you.

If you were allocated a stoma/district nurse it may be worth getting in touch with them to discuss the troubles you're having and the way it is making you feel as they will be able to offer support and advice. Bowel Cancer UK may prove useful as well.

Although it may not seem like it right now, things will start to improve and you will find a way through.

    Kind regards,
