After effects of diep surgery in breast

I had diep flap surgery in May this year on my left breast. I have had no problem with my stomach but keep ‘feeling’ my breast. I don’t mean touching it but I can feel there is something there and it doesn’t always feel comfortable. Does anyone else have this feeling?

  • Hello Jodcai

Welcome to the forum. I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing some side effects from your surgery earlier this year.

I'm not really sure what this "feeling" could be that you mention but it's certainly worth getting it checked out with your breast care nurse or GP for your own peace fo mind.

I hope that things setle for you soon.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Jodcai,

i had my diep in April and still have aches/pains/weird  sensations. I’ve been told that everything is still settling and they will calm in time. Wasn’t prepared to go through all this to then have t take painkillers daily but know things could have been a lot worse so should count myself lucky.

    Big hugs,

  • Hi Jodcai

I had mastectomy in Feb 2018 but failed implants in June and Sept 2018 and further surgeries.  I am now being offered DIEP but am afriad of after effects.

I am now better and back to work even though I have some discomfort and tightness because of tightness of skin.

I know it is early days for you but are you happy with the result.  Did you have a a tough time after the operation.

Any information you can give me would be of help.

    Thanks
