How long to recover

How long does it take for the discomfort to stop after a mastectomy? My operation was nine months ago and it’s still very tender. Is it just the scar tissue and nerves sorting them selves out? I know they said it takes a long time but would be good to have an idea of just how long a long time is!

    Hi there ...

    I had a masectomy 19 months ago ... and from others on here and myself ... we seem to take different times of healing ... my scar still tingles ... and I still can't carry shopping with that arm ... that lymph nodes were taken ... 

    So hold on and know, it does improve with time .. but maybe it will never quite be the same again .. but that's something we can live with ... so good luck on your journey... and any time you need advice , or just someone to chat too, you'll always find someone on here ..
